Sun and Sky and Sea and Sand

It's funny how time changes your appreciation for little things, for example the beach.  I went to undergrad at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (5 min from the beach) and I can count on one hand the number of times I visited the beach during my 4 years there.  Now I'd give anything to go back.  The waves crashing ashore, the chatter amongst other beach goers, and the sounds of the seagulls are really a thing of solitude.  This tee shirt from Gap just really sums up what's so awesome about the beach and reminded me of the few times I visited in college.  Man I need a vacay.....

Screams Summer

I'm the type to walk around the house with close to nothing on or naked when it's too hot.  When I have to leave the house for whatever reason the one thing that's quick, cute, light weight, and breathable is a cotton dress (maxi, mini, midi, etc) and this eyelet dress was perfect for today. I actually turned the air conditioner on in my car, it was so hot.  My sister gave me this dress for Mother's day, the perfect color and right on time.

Boyfriend Jeans... Again

One of my go to outfits for warm weather is my boyfriend jeans and a plain tee.  Yesterday I spiced it up a tad with the tribal wedges instead of flat sandals.  Men were commenting all day about the shoes!!

Neon and Tribal print

I am currently in love with any print that is tribal and colorful, BUT I need to go slow.  Incorporate a piece at a time to see how it will fit into my current wardrobe, this tribal print midi skirt was perfect.  After remixing it a few times maybe I can start to incorporate bags and shirts.... Any print that you are currently loving?

A repeat Offender: Remixing

If you haven't heard the term "remixing" before today, let me introduce you.  To get the most bang for your buck out of your closet, you have to learn a technique called remixing, repeating or shopping your own closet, where you wear a statement piece differently to acheive an entirely different outfit.  While the process can be a little overwhelming it can also be fun... but YOU have to make it fun.  Look to other bloggers, celebrities, friends and even that inner voice of yours when remixing your wardrobe, it's FUN.  I got my remixing inspiration from Nene Leakes, SHOCKER!! I have NEVER been a fan of her's but I must say I love her style and she gets mucho props from me.

I could not find a still photo of her outfit, so I am giving you a video instead. LOVES IT!

I purchased this floral skirt last year from H&M and was finally blessed this year with the floral blouse for my birthday from my dear friend Tiffany H. of Pink Pearl Couture. Now she understands why I was SUPER ecstatic about the blouse!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's day to all you wonderful Mother's out there who know that being a mother is one of the hardest but most rewarding jobs on the planet!!

I read a quote earlier this week that said "amateurs try until they get it right, professionals try until they cant get it wrong" and it kind of stuck with me.  I am constantly trying new things and once I complete them I am moving on to the next "project". While trying new things is not a bad thing, I need to stay put for a little while in one thing.  I saw this super cute ombre maxi dress on revolve clothing and thought it would be perfect for summer, however when I saw the price tag I was not attracted anymore.  It was a simple dress with a high price tag, I shop smart y'all.  So I thought to myself, I know how to sew why not make my own version on the dress and call it a day.  I have never dyed anything in my life but I was up for the challenge.  From constructing the pattern down to dyeing it, I've learned what NOT to do next time around... and there will be a next time around.  My recreation isn't perfect, BUT I am very happy with it.  Can't wait to show you guys the dress when I get it all the way right.
